Being diagnosed with a life-long disease at the age of nine really takes an emotional toll on a child. Dr. Braverman validated all of my feelings of the past 10 years toward and about diabetes, as well as the frustration I have with people who are ignorant about diabetes. We didn’t get to choose our disease, but I learned that I do get to choose when to educate someone about my disease and when to let things go.
It was comforting to know that there is someone out there who wants to know how my diabetes makes me feel, not just physically, but emotionally. No one asks you that and they most certainly should. In this group, people without diabetes learned to think like a diabetic. I felt that all of the people in the room “got it” and grew in their knowledge of diabetes.

I met Dr Braverman when my second IVF cycle had failed and my doctor recommended donor eggs as a next step. Dr Braverman is an excellent sounding board, a realist, and a wealth of information. Neither my heart nor my mind were open to donor egg in the beginning – but with Dr Braverman’s help I was eventually able to make the decision to move forward with donor egg and achieve my dream of becoming a mother.

We truly want to thank you for all of your help, support and sanity. Without you, I don’t know how we would have gotten through some very difficult times. The road to parenthood was certainly not a smooth one for us, but you’ll be happy to know our twins were worth the wait.
